(Take a deep breath, mum).
"The blankets don't need to be fancy, a little practicing and you'll be on your way." Then the question of needles and yarn.
(Don't appear over eager!)
"I'm sure I have some yarn to practice on, the problem is needles. I think I sold all of my straight needles at our yard sale last fall."
"Can you go buy some for me?"
(And I am thinking, "mum, your enthusiasm is the kiss of death.......").
"Well, I think I can a little later. Is there a color of yarn you want me to pick up?"
"I don't know, how about purple?"
So, didn't she bug the heck out of me until I headed out for needles, Red Heart and Plymouth Encore. As soon as I returned she enthusiatically got to it. That night I had to go out, leaving her knitting along. In my absence she decided she needed to learn to cast on and start a garter stitch square. Unable to reach me on my cell phone she Asked Jeeves, "how do I cast on in knitting?" Well, Jeeves sent her here and when I got home, she had nearly mastered the art! Now all of you knit-bloggers and blog readers out there, send the positive knitting energy in Erin's direction! May the passion grow!
