First the thank yous! Some people have it all together and then some! My Better Pal couldn't have known for five seconds that my birthday was coming up and I got a card. RIGHT ON MY BIRTHDAY! With a tea bag for mental relaxation and everything. It so made my day (all those weeks ago). Then my very good blog friend (the kind of friend I am always so sure I don't deserve) Margene sent me this:
It is a handmade journal by Miriam Felton (I hope I got the name right and hope that Margene will fill us all in on the details). I love it so much! Margene didn't even stop there, email cards with well wishes have come all month long for the birthday and Christmas. And here it takes me weeks to thank her. I hope she is still my friend. And not for the presents, but for the wonderful person that she is, and I wonder how I deserve. Thank you Margene, for every way that you have enriched my life, thank you!
My Better Pal is better than sliced bread! She (or he for all I know) has her (his) finger on the pulse. See that yarn? It is a wonderful shade of greeny blue in a cashmere blend. CASHMERE! I am not so worthy of that, I'll tell you. I keep it next to my knitting chair and have a difficult time keeping my hands off of it. Along with that came a suggestion to make the Shedir Hat by one of my favorite designers. Little did BP know that I had just made that hat (details, sketchy as they may be, next week) and love it enough to make a bunch. How it will look on my pin head? Hmmm...... I'd maybe gift it away, but did I mention.....CASHMERE! And there was chocolate. Yummy organic chocolate that I had only known about through Secret Pal gifts. As you can see I didn't wait too long to open it. I'm so happy to say that in my holiday shopping I found a local source. This bar is filled with caramel (well, it was). Along with that came lovely soaps and teas. One of them is brewing in my Christmas Teapot as we speak (or as I type, whatever). The others are bath teas. You steep them in the bath while you relax away your cares. Today my daughters did the major scrub down in their bathroom (the one with a tub), I may head up there for a New Year's soak. If you choose to read on, you will see that I really need it. Anyway, I think my favorite part of the whole box was the card. See it? The blue Ho Ho Ho card? It looks handmade, in my favorite color with a way cool Santa on the front. This card did not get stashed with the rest of the Christmas cards, it has a place of honor as a decoration in my family room, where I can see it all of the time. Right now, even. Thanks Better Pal. I feel warmed and cared for. Who could ask for more?
The rest of the post is a small recap of my holidays. I could never cover it all, but there is a bit in here. Click away to read on!
