Would you just look at this:

Don't those socks look different? The pooling? Not the same. The coloring? Different. They look like different dye lots, don't they? But they're not. Nope. It has been bugging the heck out of me. I have almost frogged many times. I was trying to be all process and zen and............and then.........................................................................................................................................................................
I figured out that when you knit the first sock on five size 1 needles and the second on four size 1 needles and ONE SIZE 1/2 NEEDLE YOU CAN F*CK THE WHOLE THING UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to bed now.

My sympathies - that would drize me crazy, too!

Ouch. I feel your sock pain, believe me.

Ummmm. Ooops?
Posted by: Carole | April 30, 2006 at 07:38 AM
Oh dear! I don't think the pooling is that much of a problem, not really, but the size . . . um . . . oops, indeed! Hope everything's looking better this morning....

Jeeezzzzzzzzz, I HATE when that happens!

Socks should coordinate, they don't have to match. If you have me as a swap partern, please finish them up, slap a stamp on them and pour your self a big glass of wine. They are beautiful as is and any knitter worth her salt would love them, pooling colors and all.

Oh you poor thing. I just know how that kills you. frog and put them away until you forget about the whole mess.

Ah. Can we convert you into 2 socks 2 circs mode for sock knitting? Simultaneously on the same two circs - what happens to one happens to the other..... then you can alternate two rounds of ball A and 2 rounds of ball B to help avoid pooling as well. I like your blog - can't let you stress yourself out into Knitting Black Holes that drive one insane!

Not much drives this knitter crazy, but that just might do it. Uggg.

I love pooling and I like yours too but combined with the difference in color between the twos skeins I know this is driving you insane! The good news is, I'm sure less perfectionist feet will never notice...there's your first Xmas gift 2006 :)

Ohgod. I've done that. But it was using the larger needle that I had used to cast on....and I frogged. You should too. I have a high threshold for pooling...but not that kind.

I like them, but I know you hate them! I would frog them if you could never make yourself wear them....
Or amybe one of your daughters would like them?

Hi Teresa - Didn't see any email addy, so I'm responding to your question/comment about whether I knit all the Nancy Bush patterns as written. The short answer is nyes. Sometimes. I like a heel flap with either a half-handkerchief or a round heel, and a standard toe with the decreases on the sides. Often I subject other people to the experimental ones . . . Lately I've been trying to make more of them as written, just to have more experience with other heels and toes. She really has quite an extensive knowledge of these. That being said, if the pattern is repetitive, I often lose or forget the pattern after I've started, so then I just stick on any old heel and toe.
