It has been so long since a finished object has appeared here at the Blues, I almost forgot how to post it. You can practically see the tumbleweeds blowing by in the deserted town of my Ravelry projects page. Hear that haunting wind? Whoooooo...... These shawls may be just what the doctor ordered for increased mojo. We'll have to wait and see about that one. I know that knitting with Kim's yarn was enough to make me want to keep on going. That Whisper Merino Lace yarn is gorgeous, I've said it before and I'll say it again (what I have also said before and will say again is that I cannot get the color right in the photos, UGH!). I have the yarn in two more colors right now and my fingers are itching to start another lace project.
So, I knit this Swallowtail as the pattern is written with the exception of the nupps. Don't all you nupp lovers get your knickers in knots! I AM ONE OF YOU! I LOVE ME SOME NUPPS! But the person I knit this for wanted to dress the shawl up a bit with beads and I aim to please. Sometimes. Anyway, for the first time ever I used the crochet hook method of beading and it worked out quite well, if I bead in the future I may well do it that way again. Of course it doesn't all go as planned all of the time. I knit the last row of the chart, adding the beads on the points, only to find out there was another row to knit, then the bind off, which would have put the beads in a weird spot, so much tinking was done. Sounds so easy right? Well, while the crochet hook method is cool, it is fiddly, so having to remove the beads, while tinking, on the long end of the shawl, then redo it all over again.... Well, you know. Ah, what fun! There were other spots that I tinked back, stitch by stitch for mistakes on both shawls. I just consider tinking and reknitting so much of the lace process for me that it doesn't make that much of an impression. Or, for the safety of my sanity I've blocked it out completely. A defense mechanism of sorts, you decide. Two Days, Two Shawls. Don't expect another tomorrow.
One hundred fifty-four to go. SEE THIS IS A KNITTING BLOG!!!!! Sometimes. WOO HOO!
