These Brussel sprouts were harvested from my garden just yesterday! I hadn't been out there in a while and had forgotten about them, but since I was told not to harvest them until after the first frost and since that frost took a while to get there, the Brussel sprouts slipped my mind. This was the first attempt growing this plant and I'm not so sure we were successful. We got a lot of Brussel sprouts on the plant, but they are about marble sized on the average. Not that it takes anything away from them, I've been popping them raw, like candy, they are tender and tasty. I can't wait to cook up what I have left.
There was still kale, chard, and lots of parsley as well. I'm thinking that might just be it, though.
I've not kept up with the Christmas music sharing this week. This is more nostalgia for you. I wonder, is it too late to plan a trip for this year? Mmmm, maybe if I have a sudden cash windfall I can make it work....
2011. Fifty-four. $2.70. I have always taught my kids that it is rude to tell others that the food they like is yucky or gross or you hate it or whatever. ;)

The look bigger than marble-size... and delicious! We've had a few below-zero nights and some frosty mornings, but I've actually been overheated with a shawl and jacket some mornings, and have needed nothing more than mitts on my hands. I vote for Hawaii and sudden cash windfalls. (I may have felt differently a few Fat Tires ago... or maybe not.)

I love small brussel sprouts, when they get too big they can be bitter. It's nice to see a photo with bright green at this time of year, too. You know that Mele Kalikimaka is my fav!

We have Brussels sprouts frequently. Tried growing them, but they never did well. Someone told us they're not right for this climate and they'd grow better in New England. Cut the kale and make kale chips. We ate 4 batches of it last spring. So, so good. Heading out some place warm and beachy would be the perfect thing to do for Christmas. You've wanted to be in Hawaii on Christmas Day for years. You should treat yourself!!

That makes me so nostalgic: we grew Brussel sprouts the first summer we were married. They were SO GOOD -- way better than the frozen brussel sprouts we had when I was growing up. Enjoy!
