Yes, the dates of this post compared to the dates of this post that I'm linking to may give the impression that I am clairvoyant. I won't disabuse anyone of that opinion, because sometimes I am.
Franklin's rewrite reminds me of this TBT post from 2004. I had fun writing it then and recalling it now.
Cheaper Than Therapy?
Am I the only one that has their husband believing that knitting is therapy? And along with the knitting is the purchasing of yarn, correct? And said yarn is, this is where I hope my hubby isn't checking in on the blog (maybe time to assume a new identity?). Anywho-said yarn is cheaper than therapy? I can rationalize any acquisition of just about anything. I should really make a consulting business out of it-Teresa's Justification Service, we explain away every purchase. Well ladies, I think we may be pushing the envelope of even my expertise!
If you aren't a member of the Rogue-Along, you should just join to read all of the message board posts. I thought we were just knitting a sweater together, but more yarns have been purchased, swatched and talked about than sweaters sold at L.L Bean. And not by the masses, but by individual knitters. This is a copy of my latest post to the board:
Hi all, I am sitting here chuckling away at the bunch of us. I think we should have a contest for the person who orders/shops and buys/swatches the most amount of yarns intended for this project! I would never (well, might not), ever (not in the same day, maybe), ever (nope, not me), ever (I must have something in my stash), ever (well, maybe just once), ever (I really think it would great in that tweedy heather), ever (that blue is THE perfect blue), ever (oops, my credit card just slipped out of my wallet), ever ("your order is complete")..... There must be therapy for what I have convinced my husband is "cheaper than" therapy. Off to swatch my third yarn whilst I wait for the other two to come from the post man! Tata!
Okay, I may have swatched one or two or so or more yarns from my stash, but the Maya, even though it knit to gauge was just too drapey! And the Bazic Wool has great stitch definition and a firmer fabric, but it just isn't sitting right with me yet. The Brown Sheep Naturespun Worsted is almost working to gauge, but if I have to fiddle too much, well, you can just see that one going to the UFO Twilight Zone. I'll have to wait for the Magpie in Shakespeare to come in from Richesse Online, and the Harrisville Yarn New England Highland, or maybe the Jamieson's Soft Shetland in Highland Mist or Mist. Okay, the last two haven't been ordered.........yet. But I will make them into something, eventually, right? Okay, so you tell me, is it therapy? Or do I NEED THERAPY?!
While I decide, or wait to be committed, I have a little ditty to keep you singin' as you Rogue-Along
