Moving on from that cardigan to the Baby Yours in J. Knits Superwashme DK in Boston was the right plan. I packed that and the Noro Striped Scarf for my overnight to NYC and was able to make a little headway on both. The scarf was perfect for riding in the dark, the knit 1, purl 1 rib moved right along, but because I couldn't see it there is a spot where the striping got a little wonky. I didn't get a photo of it, I'll try tomorrow. Anyway, I started the sweater Friday night, had a little restart on Saturday and it is just the knitting the doctor ordered.
We went to the city for a little shopping and to see Gillian and as we were driving in we passed the Museum of Modern Art, reminding me of the Van Gogh exhibit on display there. I had forgotten all about it! While we didn't have a lot of time, as we came home Saturday night, we braved the cold and wind (it was unbelievable on Saturday, bitter and high winds, and we walked everywhere) and headed over for a couple of hours. We had about ninety minutes before our entrance time to the Van Gogh and the Colors of the Night exhibit (you should look at the online exhibit, it is great), so we strolled the galleries to kill a little time and infuse a little culture into our New Hampshire country hick life. Heh. The exhibit was everything I would have wished for and included sketches and letters that were as enthralling as the paintings. Seeing the paintings in person takes my breath away, I have to admit it. The one Van Gogh that really got me that day was not part of the exhibit though, but up in the galleries. The Olive Trees is one of my absolute favorites, I'm thinking of getting a print for over my bed. It is funny how different things hit you at different visits to a museum. I could have looked at this one, Legar's A Woman with a Book, all day. Gazing into her eyes I wondered, is she reading Outlander too? ahahaha.
Thirty-eight to go. Yawn.
The colors in the Olive Trees painting are nice, the movement and depth are facinating. No crazy cultural parades this visit, phew. :) Those eyes are captivating...

i think it was starry night that i saw once at MoMA and it amazed me. prints of his work don't come close to representing the brilliance of the originals.

All of the exhibits I've seen over the years have been so worth the wait. Vermeer and Monet were my favorites. Van Gogh would be fabulous! The other art is a big bonus.

Van Gogh is one of my favorite (if not my most favorite) painters. Too bad that exhibit wasn't there last year when I went to MoMA.
The Olive Trees looks perfect for you.
