So, this is supposed to be Ten Books I Am Reading This Summer. What it will really be is Ten Books On My 'To Read' List, because while I sometimes have a list in order, it is often upset by a new book that sashays by or what shows up from Recorded Books or Audible. At this point in time I am behind and have quite a few books on my computer already. So here goes:
- An Echo in the Bone. I'm actually about 1/3 of the way through this one right now, it is the most recent of the Outlander series. I'm tempted to start with the first one as soon as I finish this, but the list of books is long....
- The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. Sashayer.
- The Body Farm. I'm on a Kay Scarpetta kick.
- The Beekeeper's Apprentice. Just what I need. Another series.
- Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. It's been on my RB queue for a long time and I've finally received it.
- The Joy Luck Club. I know it! Am I the last person on earth to read this book?
- The Girl Who Played With Fire. That one has been on my RB queue for a while and hasn't shown up, here's hoping it does soon.
- A River in the Sky. Amelia Peabody, yay!
- The House at Riverton.
- Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
So, those are ten "planned", but you never know what will happen. Now I'll go read your lists and mine will likely change. Heh.
2010. Sixty. Any suggestions?
Ohhh.. You've got a few there I want to add to my list.
Listen to Outlander. It was very well read. I read it twice, listened once.

I was just driving to Canobie to pick up Amber and I thought how I need to start writing down the books I'm reading because once I've finished one book and start another I can't remember what I read last week, sad, but true.
Just finished Harvesting The Heart by Jodi Picoult. Haven't read one of her books in years but, like you said Terry, it just crossed my path and I said "why not". Typical Jodi, kind of depressing about a young mother of a 3 month old who leaves her husband and baby in search of her own mother who left her when she was young...trying to find answers. Now I'm reading Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand. Mary from Norwell brought it to me and it takes place on Nantucket. Three dysfunctional women staying in a tiny cottage, each going through difficult times in their lives. Just half way through and I'm enjoying their bitchin at each other. Mary recommended Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin, so I'll search that on out next. Sorry I didn't list these books 1, 2, 3, etc.

I just finished An Echo In The Bone. Definitely start at book one - Outlander. Diana Gabaldon is fantastic, just finished reading them in order.

Gabaldon ruined all other reading experiences for me. There's just nothing like that series.

Joy Luck Club is great - I'm kind of jealous that you get to read it for the first time. I assume you've read The Help but if you haven't, you should. Oh, and The Historian, too.

The problem of making a book list is that every one else has suggestions. My book list is now 4 times longer. If I read the rest of Outlander series I'll pace myself and read other books in between. It's been a great summer read so far!

The Beekeeper's Apprentice is a great book and the start of a terrific (if uneven) series. Enjoy! I also recommend my new favorite book, "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms" by N K Jemisin.

Oh, I love the Outlander books! Have read them all at least twice, listened to them all at least once. And I think you'd love the Janet Evanovich books. Laugh out loud funny, those Stephanie Plum adventures.

Great list! I liked The House at Riverton and An Echo In The Bone. I will have to add some of the others to the list I keep.
