Yes, the dates of this post compared to the dates of this post that I'm linking to may give the impression that I am clairvoyant. I won't disabuse anyone of that opinion, because sometimes I am.
Franklin Habit did a fabulous thing with a catchy tune that I can't seem to get out of my head. I love the original version, I love this cover (maybe the best of all) and this parody is hysterical.
Franklin's rewrite reminds me of this TBT post from 2004. I had fun writing it then and recalling it now.
Cheaper Than Therapy?
Am I the only one that has their husband believing that knitting is therapy? And along with the knitting is the purchasing of yarn, correct? And said yarn is, this is where I hope my hubby isn't checking in on the blog (maybe time to assume a new identity?). Anywho-said yarn is cheaper than therapy? I can rationalize any acquisition of just about anything. I should really make a consulting business out of it-Teresa's Justification Service, we explain away every purchase. Well ladies, I think we may be pushing the envelope of even my expertise!
If you aren't a member of the Rogue-Along, you should just join to read all of the message board posts. I thought we were just knitting a sweater together, but more yarns have been purchased, swatched and talked about than sweaters sold at L.L Bean. And not by the masses, but by individual knitters. This is a copy of my latest post to the board:
Hi all, I am sitting here chuckling away at the bunch of us. I think we should have a contest for the person who orders/shops and buys/swatches the most amount of yarns intended for this project! I would never (well, might not), ever (not in the same day, maybe), ever (nope, not me), ever (I must have something in my stash), ever (well, maybe just once), ever (I really think it would great in that tweedy heather), ever (that blue is THE perfect blue), ever (oops, my credit card just slipped out of my wallet), ever ("your order is complete")..... There must be therapy for what I have convinced my husband is "cheaper than" therapy. Off to swatch my third yarn whilst I wait for the other two to come from the post man! Tata!
Okay, I may have swatched one or two or so or more yarns from my stash, but the Maya, even though it knit to gauge was just too drapey! And the Bazic Wool has great stitch definition and a firmer fabric, but it just isn't sitting right with me yet. The Brown Sheep Naturespun Worsted is almost working to gauge, but if I have to fiddle too much, well, you can just see that one going to the UFO Twilight Zone. I'll have to wait for the Magpie in Shakespeare to come in from Richesse Online, and the Harrisville Yarn New England Highland, or maybe the Jamieson's Soft Shetland in Highland Mist or Mist. Okay, the last two haven't been ordered.........yet. But I will make them into something, eventually, right? Okay, so you tell me, is it therapy? Or do I NEED THERAPY?!
While I decide, or wait to be committed, I have a little ditty to keep you singin' as you Rogue-Along
Rogue
(apologies to Madonna's Vogue)
Look around, every other blog you read it
It's every where that you go (look around)
Knitters everwhere find that they can't escape it
And the knit-along continues to grow (continues to grow)
With celtic knots and a hooded flair
Girl From Auntie did create the design
Then Geek Pixie asked why not knit it altogether?
It's a Rogue Along, so come knit the song<?p>
Chorus
Come on, Rogue
Let your needles click to the music (click to the music)
Come on, Rogue
Let your needles go with the flow (go with the flow)
All you need is a heavy worsted weight yarn
Check your stash, that's what it's for (that's what it's for)
If not there, then your favorite local yarn store
And buy enough for two, three or four (or maybe more)
It makes no difference if you get the gauge
You know you can just buy more
With the other knitters encouraging you to go on
You're Rogue-Alonger, yes that's what you are
(Chorus)
The beauty's where you cable and shape it
Not just where you knit and purl it
Detail in the great design
That's why I had to have mine
Knit away, get it done
So come and join the Rogue fun!
(Chorus)
Rowan Magpie and Brown Sheep
Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed
Debbie Bliss and Jaegar, too
All the subjects of a knitter's dream
Custom Woolen Mills Two Ply
Are the sparkle of a knitter's eye
Mission Falls 18/24
Just keep buying more and more
They have hand, they have drape
Peruvian Collection gave good gauge
Yarn is purchased everywhere
Way more than enough to share
Knitters with a goal in common
Bloggers post about their progress
Don't just sit there, let's get to it
Make a Rogue, there's nothing to it!
Rogue!
Thirty-one. There's no rule about pre-dating posts. At least not in my world....
I was just thinking about Rogue! I never knit one, although I wanted to ...

That one was definitely worth repeating. As accurate now as it was then.
But I think we have advanced from therapy to twelve step programs.

I loved remembering Rogue. That was a great sweater, and 2004 was a great time. I knit two Rogues, one of them I still have.

Rogue was my first "Along" sweater and it was fun to do because of you and all the others who joined. Thank you for bringing back great memories!

Ah, Rogue! I never knit one, either, but I still have the pattern, and Claudia's cardigan mods -- printed and ready to go! Someday. Maybe.

Come on, Rogue. That is brilliant!
